The Leona Gallant Interview

Leona has 40 years of experience working in the Healing Arts, Counselling, Trainer of Trainers and Community Development fields. She has provided extensive training in personal development, diversity training and organizational change. She has facilitated counsellor training programs for Tillicum Lelum Aboriginal Friendship Centre in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Leona has 20 years of experience presenting and working with Virgina Satir’s Family Development Model.

In her consulting business, Leona provides personal development, diversity training, retreats, seminars and workshops. She is currently working one-on-one with individuals wanting to explore their own essence. Leona leads and facilitates women’s groups and provides training for individuals who want to understand and integrate Virgina Satir’s Family Development Model into their own work.

Leona’s education is ongoing experiential and self-directed; her belief is that we never stop learning. She has trained with and learned from the following Masters: Virgina Satir; Maria Gomori; Bennett Wong, Jock McKeen and many others at The Haven on Gabriola Island. She studied at Athabasca University Women’s Studies; Vancouver Island University (VIU) and Newman University in Kansas.

Leona has studied and incorporated many different therapeutic modalities into her approach including Reiki Master; Quantum Energy work; Hakomi – Mindful, Experiential and Compassionate Therapy; and she also weaves the Medicine Wheel and Native Spirituality into her work.

Leona is deeply connected to nature and it is her belief that as we connect to self, others, and nature, our world opens and joy enters. Her ability to journey with and empathically and compassionately connect to people as they reveal their life stories is both transformative and enlightening.
